The Parish Hall was built in the late 80s as the result of a huge village fundraising effort - the overall cost was just short of £100,000, of which just over half came from grants, and the rest - around £38,000 - came from village fundraising efforts - everything from safari suppers, to `gas ups' to entertainment, coffee mornings - even a sheep scheme, whereby the village bought lambs which were fed and raised by local farmers, with the eventual sale price going into the Hall Fund.
On this page you can see a collection of posters, fliers
and programmes,  advertising and supporting events that took place both to raise funds, and to maintain the hall once it had been opened. Many of them were designed by Christine Govier - they were kept by her son Ian, who has donated the collection to the History Society, for which we are very grateful.
The collection gives a great insight into village life in the 80s, with an amazing array of social events!
